The bi-weekly part of the title is more aspirational.

Some notable events:

April 27

Went to Tom Thumb XXIII in Kirksville, Missouri. Tom Thumb is an arts festival I was involved with in college. I’ve gone every year since Tom Thumb XVIII. Side note: I appreciate the bizarre and well-maintained Wikipedia article for the festival (which includes a mention of me!). I took some pictures that you can see on my Instagram. I bought a new lens and I’ve been reading about photography so I think I’m going to take more pictures soon. Let me know if you want to help me practice by having me do a photoshoot with you.

May 4-15

On vacation. Spent two days off in Chicago, then flew out to Seattle and took a bus up to Vancouver. Currently writing this from Victoria, BC. I plan on taking a lot of pictures here, and maybe writing in more detail about my experience.

Albums I’ve been enjoying lately:

  • Father of the Bride – Vampire Weekend
  • Anger Management – Rico Nasty
  • Ágætis byrjun – Sigur Rós
  • SASAMI – SASAMI

Movies I saw:

  • 05-05-19 How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
  • 05-10-19 Pokémon Detective Pikachu

I am enoying reading Jenny Odell’s How to Do Nothing. I feel like it’s made me more appreciative of the “empty” moments in life, and more comfortable just existing in a certain space in a certain moment. I think I am someone who is often uncomfortable with doing something that isn’t in service of some sort of overarching goal. I don’t think that’s a healthy way to live. It’s a deeply compassionate and kind book, and I feel like I’ve absorbed some of that. The subtitle talks about the attention economy, but I have found very little of the content of the book is actually about social media companies (though I haven’t finished yet). I think the values of this blog align a lot with Jenny’s values in her book, so I feel inspired to write more.

Some site updates: I set up the mailing list which you can subscribe to here. I haven’t sent out any emails yet, but plan on doing so once I figure out what a regular posting schedule looks like for me. I am experimenting with setting up Google Analytics on this site to understand my audience a bit better. I have some reservations about Google Analytics as a platform, so if you have any experience or alternatives, please send me an email and let me know!
